List of Ideas

We are working on economic sustainable ideas for Rwanda and Haiti. The ideas are mostly vocational training proposals, and often have agricultural elements. Ideas include a Banana Plantation, dairy, boat manufacturing, re-forestation, coffee plantation, automotive repair, schools, masonry, tobacco, and furniture.

Welcome to Studio 303

Studio 303 is a studio in Washington State Universities Architecture department within the College of Engineering Architecture and Construction Management. The class is run by Professor Robert Barnstone.

The proposed program is to create an economically sustainable project for Rwanda or Haiti. The 15 proposals range from agriculture, to mechanical shops. The projects are just beginning and outside involvement within the projects is always appreciated. We have a mid-term review on March 12th, 2010. Followed by a final post of the projects on March 29th, 2010.

The Rwanda project is a real life simulation project of a 100 acre land donation with a 15 acre fenced off section of the site. The project requirements are to create an economically sustainable, vocational orphanage. The orphanage must include all associated programmatic structures, as well as housing, a school, and a small infirmary.

The Haiti project is much more open wth both rural, and urban possabilities. The entire program for the compounds are based on the proposed situation.

All the projects are required to have one long span structure using innovative and traditional methods.
